Stiff? Tight? This Shaolin Routine Fixes It in Weeks

This is an eight-movement mobility sequence built around the areas modern sitting restricts most: the thoracic spine, hip flexors, ankles, the side-to-side plane of motion, and the chest. The video prescribes 15 to 20 minutes, three to four times a week, and frames the routine as diagnostic as well as corrective — whichever movement feels tightest tells you where to work.

Why does the routine start with the spine and hips?

The video argues that the thoracic spine and the hip flexors are the two areas modern life restricts first — hours of sitting shorten the front of the hip, and hours of looking down stiffen the mid-back. It also gives two setup rules: two minutes of gentle leg swings and torso twists before starting, and breathing as the pacing mechanism for every hold. If the heels lift in the deep squat, it identifies that as an ankle restriction and suggests elevating them temporarily.
